Five—time woman boxing world champion M C Mary Kom has failed to qualify for the upcoming Rio-2016 Olympics. She lost in the second round bouts of the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships on Saturday. She lost by 0—2 to Germany’s Azize Nimani. In an exciting contest, Mary Kom took off aggressively but Nimani managed to keep her at bay by fighting from a distance.Mary Kom, who competes in (51kg category is a bronze medalist at the 2012 London Olympics. With the ousting of the Mary kom, the only Olympic hope left for India in the event now is Pooja Rani (75kg). She has in the prequarterfinals on Friday.
Speaking to media after her loss Mary Kom said that she gave her best effort after a lot of sacrifices and added that Winning and losing is a part of game. She further said that she believes God has a different plan for her and thanked all her fans and her support team for not letting her down at the crucial moment.
