Telangana Jagruthi Founder and TRS MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha is making efforts to reach out to the distressed farmers’ community of the state. Responding to her call, prominent Sports persons including Telangana brand ambassador Sania Mirza, cricketer Pragyan Ojha and badminton player Jwala Gutta have come forward to contribute to the cause of farmers in distress. The three players handed over cheques to Nizamabad MP K Kavitha at Telangana Bhavan on Sunday. Naseema Mirza, the mother of Sania Mirza gave a cheque of Rs 3 lakh on behalf of her daughter while cricketer Pragyan Ojha gave Rs 2 lakh and Badminton player Jwala Gutta gave a cheque of Rs 1 lakh to Telangana Jagruti president Kavitha. The amount would be used for the welfare of the families of the farmers, who have committed suicides.
Speaking on the occasion, Kavitha said that it was the responsibility of all citizens to come to the rescue of farmers who are in distress. She added that around 80 families of farmers who committed suicide would be adopted by the Telangana Jagruti. The civil society organized has also formed a committee to identify the farmers. She said that the financial help by the organization would be disbursed from November 1,2015.
